Matt F. Steele
Matthew Frederick Steele July 6, 1972 – Oct. 1, 2006 Matthew Steele transitioned from this world to his real home after a long struggle with cancer. A legacy of a life well lived characterized by: JOY – that was produced by his love for God and others HUMOR AND A KEEN SENSE OF WIT – that made people laugh out loud FRIENDSHIPS – that were deep and unwavering FAITH--in a merciful God that brought safety and security to his life and those he loved FAMILY – that shaped his priorities and relationships RHYTHM--with a drumbeat in is heart and hands Matt grew up in Bakersfield, California and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but settled in Santa Barbara where he spent his last 10 years. He was a gifted musician and artist, an avid reader and keen historian. The family rejoices in the all too brief marriage to Stephanie Steele, the love of his life, and their gift to each other and our family of their daughter Sydney Marin, now three years old. Matt is survived by his parents, Fred and Krista Steele of Bellevue, WA, adoring sister and brother-in-law, Carrie and Eric Eacker and new nephew, Brayden Matthew, and Stephanie's parents Teri and Gary Champ. Stephanie and the family are so grateful for a generous and gracious Santa Barbara Community Church family and a myriad of loving friends and co-workers who gave unselfishly during Matt's long battle with cancer.
